Allosaurus joined the Evrima Public Branch in patch 0.21.321. Its two signature inputs below are confirmed by the official changelog; exact damage, stamina, diet targets, and growth time can change with balance patches or server settings.
How to play in 60 seconds
The complete loop, from leaving spawn to knowing when the hunt is over.
- 01
Leave spawn quietly, open the in-game diet panel, and build your first route around a diet target, water, and a concealed resting point.
- 02
Approach from cover and keep stamina in reserve. While running, hold primary attack to use Claw Swipe when the target is close and committed to a direction.
- 03
Hold secondary attack to prepare Pounce, then release when you have a clean line. A successful latch builds damage and bleed over time, but staying attached too long can carry you into danger.
- 04
After contact, move out of retaliation range and watch the target. Let movement worsen its bleed instead of immediately trading face-to-face again.
- 05
End the hunt if you lose the trail, the target reaches support, or your stamina falls below what you need to disengage. Surviving a reset is better than forcing a finish.
Controls & core tools
Learn what each input is for before trying to combine them in a fight.
Claw Swipe
A medium attack that applies heavy bleed and nudges Allosaurus toward the direction it is looking. Use it to close the final gap, not as a long-distance chase button.
Pounce
Launches Allosaurus onto a target and latches on, dealing increasing damage and bleed over time. Release only with a clear approach and a safe exit in mind.
Grow without donating your run
Each stage changes how visible you are, what you can contest, and how far you can safely travel.
Early growth is about avoiding detection, not taking fair fights. Expand into busier hunting routes only when your size, stamina pool, and knowledge of the terrain give you a reliable escape. Elder systems and server modifiers can change the final stage.
- Reference maturity
- Variable — check the server and live build
- Planning principle
- Change your route as size, visibility, and matchup risk change.
Diet & feeding
The in-game diet panel remains the live source of truth.
- Current diet targets shown in the in-game character panel
- Isolated prey you can pressure without committing to a face-to-face trade
- Fresh carcasses only after checking scent, tracks, calls, and nearby cover
- A second diet option on the route so one contested area does not control your run
Abilities
Think of these as parts of one hunting loop, not isolated attacks.
Claw Swipe
The running pressure tool. It deals a medium hit, applies heavy bleed, and adds a small directional step that can catch prey at the edge of your reach.
Pounce & latch
The commitment tool. Charge with secondary attack and release to latch onto a target; damage and bleed increase over time while attached.
Bleed pursuit
The core game plan created by those attacks: make the target move, disengage before the return hit, then track and re-enter only when the next exchange favors you.
Weaknesses & counterplay
These are the moments when the correct decision is usually to reset or leave.
- 01
A missed or badly aimed pounce spends position and gives the target a punish window
- 02
Large targets can carry a latch toward allies, terrain hazards, or a damaging retaliation
- 03
Dense obstacles, steep ground, and sharp turns break the clean approach lines both signature attacks need
- 04
Repeated face-to-face trading wastes the advantage of bleed and exposes Allosaurus to heavier burst damage
- 05
Low stamina removes the ability to chase, reposition, and escape after a failed commitment
Field strategy
Use this checklist before, during, and immediately after an encounter.
- 01
Before attacking, identify the target's escape direction, its nearest support, and your own disengage route.
- 02
Use Claw Swipe at the end of an approach. Starting it too early advertises the attack and makes the line easier to dodge.
- 03
Pounce targets moving predictably across open ground. Do not launch through trees, rocks, steep slopes, or an enemy group.
- 04
A latch is not automatically a win. Dismount or break contact before the target reaches a position where it can punish you safely.
- 05
Once bleed is established, apply presence rather than panic. Keep the target moving while preserving enough stamina for one more entry and one exit.
- 06
When solo, prefer distracted or isolated prey. In a group, stagger attacks so multiple Allosaurus do not block the same approach or drain stamina together.
- 07
Do not sit directly on a carcass. Feed, scan the approaches, then rest in nearby cover where incoming scavengers cannot see you first.
- 08
Recheck the live diet panel and official patch notes after updates; exact food targets and balance values are deliberately not hard-coded here.
Allosaurus FAQ
Fast answers for the decisions players get wrong most often.
Is Allosaurus beginner friendly?
It is an intermediate choice. The controls are simple, but good results depend on judging distance, choosing a safe pounce line, managing stamina, and allowing bleed to work instead of forcing repeated trades.
What is the basic Allosaurus combat loop?
Approach with stamina, create bleed with Claw Swipe or a clean pounce, disengage from the immediate counterattack, then track and pressure the moving target. Re-enter only when the target is isolated and your exit is still open.
When should I use Claw Swipe?
Use it while running when the target is already near the edge of your reach and moving along a readable line. Avoid throwing it blindly into tight terrain or directly into the strongest part of a target's defense.
How long should I stay latched after a pounce?
There is no universal timer. Stay only while the target's movement, nearby enemies, terrain, and your remaining stamina keep the dismount safe. Leave early when the target is carrying you toward danger.
Why does prey survive after I apply bleed?
Bleed is pressure, not an instant finish. If the target can stop, rest, reach allies, or force you away, the advantage can disappear. Maintain vision and safe pressure without spending all your stamina on the first chase.
Should Allosaurus fight alone or in a group?
It can hunt alone, but a disciplined group can cover escape routes and alternate pressure. Poor coordination is dangerous: crowding the same attack line or latching at the same time creates friendly obstruction and shared recovery windows.
What should Allosaurus eat?
Open the character panel and follow the current diet targets for your growth stage and live patch. This guide avoids a fixed species list because diet entries can change and community servers may use different settings.
When was Allosaurus released in Evrima?
Allosaurus was added to the Evrima Public Branch in patch 0.21.321, released on 23 December 2025.
